Il gruppo nasce dal laboratorio musicale del Ghostrack Studio di Roma come collettivo musicale ed artistico aperto a diverse modalità espressive. Muove i primi passi con progetti legati alla realtà territoriale tra cui un contributo sonoro e testuale dedicato a Pier Paolo Pasolini.

Nei primi anni di attività la band ha sviluppato diversi progetti artistici, tra cui la riproposizione dell’intero album omonimo dei Velvet Underground (Velvet Underground & Nico), gettando in tal modo le basi della propria poetica sonora e concettuale: un mix di ballate oscure elettroacustiche.

Dopo un’attività di varie esperienze live, decidono di dedicarsi ad una scrittura di brani originali, con radici che affondano nelle esperienze sonore dei gruppi dei primi anni '80 che hanno segnato gli albori della new wave e del gothic, senza tralasciare le lezioni dei cantautori del passato. Il gruppo giunge alla realizzazione di un repertorio inedito frutto dell'alchimia di tali sonorità che fa dell'eclettismo e della liberà espressiva assoluta la propria cifra stilistica: darkwave, ballate crepuscolari, elettronica accompagnano una scrittura fatta di liriche immaginifiche e introspettive.
Il tema della "crisi", del crollo dei valori, della decadenza della civiltà occidentale e di un ritorno alla Bellezza come dimensione etica ed estetica è centrale nella loro poetica.
Tema valorizzato ed esasperato dalle performance e dai contributi visual che arricchiscono le performance dal vivo.

Nell’aprile 2017 esce un promo ep prodotto dalla X-Records di Roma. Il lavoro attira subito l’attenzione della stampa specializzata e delle radio, apprezzando l’originalità e l’eleganza dei brani.

Style Sindrome were among the first bands to emerge from the Italian new wave/post-punk magma. They started in Rome in 1980 from the remains of two interesting Roman bands: TM Spa, which was one of the four groups winners of the 1st Italian Rock Festival, that took place in Rome in the same year, and Elektroshock, a well known rock group, active in the late seventies. The line-up: Stefano Curti (guitar and bass), Anna Di Stefano (vocals) Massimo Frezza (sax and keyboards), Giorgio Mastrosanti (guitar) and Raimondo Mosci (drums).
Inspired above all by the dark atmosphere and post-punk, whose founders were some British groups, especially Siouxsie and the Banshees, the music of Style Sindrome is characterized by the alchemy of sounds and a rarefied atmosphere, by the peculiarity of tangling harmonics and by the search for balance between dark sensitivity and psychedelia.
Some demo tapes were produced in the years '81 and '82, and the band was present in Italy with live concerts, radio and television appearances. Of one of these appearances remains a valuable evidence in Giandomenico Curi and Gianfranco Giagni’s video clip "Una Squillo per Christian", produced by RAI for the cult transmission"Mister Fantasy".
In 1982, Style Sindrome’s song "Waving in the Dark" was included in the compilation "Gathered", published by Rockerilla magazine and produced by Electric Eye Records. The album "Gathered", was reissued on CD by Spittle Records in 2007 and in 2012 was included by Rolling Stone Italia Magazine in the list of the top 100 most beautiful Italian records ever made!
Style Sindrome came to an amicable end in Rome in late 1982, when Anna and Stefano moved to London. The two met almost immedialtely Rab Fae Beith (former drummer of The Wall) and together they formed Rhythm and Faith, the band in which the dark essence of Style Sindrome was transformed and evolved into full Gothic Rock. In 1983, Rhythm and Faith recorded an EP for Future Records with the title "Time to Run".
In November 2012, exactly 30 years after the end of Style Sindrome, Sinthetic Shadows Records released a beautiful vinyl with the title "A Mysterious Design", which transferred the 7 tracks from the old demo tapes recorded in Rome in the years '81 and '82. Some months later, the album “A Mysterious Design” was also released on CD by the French label Infrastition.
After the release of "A Mysterious Design", Style Sindrome returned to playing live and a few years later started to record new material. With the exception of bass player Stefano Curti, who was no longer living in Italy at the time of the reunion, all the original members of the band were able to get together again. Bass player David Messina joined Style Sindrome in September 2012 and remained until the end of the recording sessions of the new album "Far", which was released on 24th February 2017 for XX92 Records (with distribution by the Italian company Goodfellas).
